Prahran Vet Hospital – Weekly Scoop 22/7/13

Recently we have seen many tragic accidents where a dog has been hit by a car and died or been seriously injured. We just want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that it is not safe to have your dog off the lead when you’re walking through the streets, no matter how well trained your dog is. Ideally, your beloved friend should be taken to a council designated area where they can be safely let off the lead. Another good idea for really energetic dogs is to enrol them in agility or fly ball classes, they are great fun for everyone and allow your four-legged friend to tire themselves out.

If you would like any training advice or have problems with your dog escaping through the fence, we are more than happy to help, just call Prahran Vet on 9510 1335.

After starting on that sombre note, we have some good news! Dr Diana Barker has successfully completed her exams for Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Surgery. We had a mini presentation ceremony at the hospital and you will be seeing her name plate at the front door soon.

Yesterday, Nurse Mary did a phenomenal job in running a half marathon in support of Edgar’s Mission. Mary would like to thank everyone who helped her raise money in support of the Edgar’s Mission cause. What an amazing achievement, well done Mary!

Don’t forget our current Facebook competition is coming to a close this week – post a photo of your pet having a “senior moment”.

Stay tuned for Dental Month in August!
