Congratulation Dr Diana Barker BVSc MANZCVS
Dr Diana Barker passed her examinations to become a member of the Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Surgery. Diana can now use the post-nominal MANZCVS.
“The Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) seeks to serve the veterinary profession and reward excellence.
College Membership signifies that a veterinarian has expertise and competence in a nominated subject area. To become a member of the College a candidate must have at least four years postgraduate experience as a veterinarian and have successfully completed both written and oral/practical examinations in one of the diverse range of subjects on offer.”*
Diana has been working towards this achievement for several years. After successfully completing the distance education program from the University of Sydney in Surgery in 2011 she elected to commit to two more years of intensive study to prepare herself for the membership examinations. The depth of knowledge expected from successful candidates is vast and covers a wide range of fields within surgery.
Diana sat the two written examinations in June and, having passed those she had to submit to a 45 minute oral examination at the MANZCVS Science Week in Queensland. She passed with flying colours.
Now Prahran Veterinary Hospital, as well as recently being ASAVA Accredited, is proud to boast three Members within its ranks. Dr Peter Juliff, a member in Small Animal Medicine, Dr Jennie Heslop, a member in Medicine of Cats and now Dr Diana Barker, a member in Surgery.
